Walmart is recalling about 4.48 million Expert Grill metal wire bristle grill brushes because small bristles can detach, stick to food or a grill surface and create an ingestion hazard, according to a Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice.
The recall, announced Oct. 1, covers five Expert Grill brush products sold at Walmart and online, including Walmart.com, from January 2021 through August 2026 for prices ranging from $1 to $28. CPSC said no incidents or injuries had been reported at the time of the notice.
Which Brushes Are Recalled
The recalled products are Expert Grill metal wire bristle grill brushes with black plastic or stainless-steel handles. Some include a metal scraper. The model numbers listed by CPSC are EX5607031616002, EX5607031616003, XG1310700206, XG1136178597003 and XG1410700124.
Those model numbers can be found on the product packaging or on a sticker or tag attached to the brush. Distribution dates vary by model, with the earliest covered sales beginning in January 2021 and the latest running through August 2026.
What Consumers Should Do
Consumers should stop using the recalled brushes immediately and contact Walmart for a full refund or store credit, CPSC said. Walmart will ask consumers either to return the brush or discard it.
Walmart can be reached at 800-925-6278 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Central time Monday through Friday. Recall information is also available through Walmart’s online product-recall pages.
Why the Recall Matters for Retailers
Wire-bristle grill brush recalls can be difficult for retailers because the products are inexpensive, often seasonal and may remain in garages for years after purchase. The long sales window in this recall means consumers may have affected products even if they have not recently bought grill accessories.
Retailers and marketplace sellers should remove recalled products from sale. Federal law bars the sale of products covered by a CPSC recall.
