Current Whirlpool Dishwasher Service Campaign

Whirlpool Corporation currently has an important service announcement covering specified Whirlpool, KitchenAid and Maytag dishwashers.

The company describes the program as a proactive product upgrade rather than a safety recall and states that there is no safety risk associated with the issue. Whirlpool says the upgrade is provided at no cost for eligible dishwashers.

Eligible Whirlpool Dishwasher Models

Only specified serial numbers are eligible. Whirlpool currently lists eligible serial-number ranges as F94601001-F95299999, FX0100000-FX5299999 and FA0100000-FA1301402.

Earlier Whirlpool Recall: Glass Cooktops

Consumers searching for a Whirlpool recall may still encounter an important earlier campaign involving glass cooktops. The CPSC announced the recall on August 28, 2019.

• Units affected: About 26,300 in the United States, plus about 2,800 in Canada and 128 in Mexico

The recalled radiant and downdraft radiant glass cooktops were manufactured from December 2016 through July 2019. The surface elements could turn on without user input, creating burn and fire hazards.

Whirlpool Corporation had received 133 reports involving cooktop surface elements turning on by themselves. The CPSC notice reported heat damage to nearby items, four reports of items catching fire and two minor burn injuries.

Whirlpool-brand models covered by the recall include model numbers beginning with WCE97US0HS, WCE97US0HB, WCE97US6HS and WCE97US6HB. KitchenAid and JennAir models were also included in the broader recall.

The CPSC instructed consumers to contact Whirlpool to arrange free installation of a replacement cooktop. When the affected cooktop is not in use, owners were instructed to turn it off at the circuit breaker and not leave flammable materials or empty cookware on or near it.
