Nearly 4,000 premium dual-fuel ranges are being recalled because a missing cap on a gas test port can allow gas to leak, creating a fire or explosion hazard. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says the recall covers AGA Elise and Mercury ranges and La Cornue CornuFé 90 and 110 ranges manufactured by AGA Rangemaster.
The recalled models span six premium range lines
The recall covers about 3,992 ranges in the United States, plus roughly 336 sold in Canada. Affected model numbers are AEL361DF, AEL481DF, AMC36DF, AMC48DF, LAC9 and LAC1, with production dates from March 19, 2025 through July 24, 2026. The ranges were sold through authorized appliance dealers nationwide from March 2025 through July 2026 for about $6,000 to $20,000.
The unusually high price range matters for dealers and owners because these are not easily swapped commodity appliances. They are large, installed cooking products, often integrated into high-end kitchen projects. That makes a field repair more practical than replacement — and makes accurate model and serial-number identification especially important.
Owners should shut off the gas supply now
CPSC says consumers should immediately shut off the gas supply to an affected range and contact AGA Rangemaster. Owners may continue using the electric oven sections, but the gas surface burners should not be used until the range has been inspected and repaired.
AGA Rangemaster is offering a free inspection and repair by a certified technician. No incidents or injuries had been reported when the recall was announced Sept. 10.
The service response is central to this recall
For retailers and servicers, the practical challenge is reaching owners and routing them to certified repair capacity. Because the potential defect involves a gas test port, this is not a do-it-yourself correction. Dealers that sold the affected ranges should be prepared for customers asking whether a unit is included, how quickly an inspection can be arranged and whether the oven can still be used safely while they wait.
