LG’s new 25-inch WashTower is a small dimensional change with a practical point: it gives compact laundry shoppers a size between the company’s existing 24-inch and 27-inch single-body washer-dryer designs.
LG described the appliance in its IFA 2026 home-appliance roundup, saying the new flagship 25-inch WashTower is tailored for European living spaces and furniture configurations. The company said the model uses Inverter Direct Drive technology in both the washer and dryer.
Why One Inch Can Matter
Laundry appliance sizing is often treated as a simple capacity choice, but one inch can decide whether a unit fits through a stairwell, aligns with cabinetry or clears a closet door. European homes can be especially tight because laundry may be placed in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways or built-in furniture runs rather than dedicated laundry rooms.
The 25-inch format also gives LG a way to offer more presence than a 24-inch compact appliance without requiring the space of a 27-inch U.S.-style tower. That middle-size approach could appeal to urban buyers if capacity, drying performance and service access hold up.
Not a U.S. Launch Yet
LG’s announcement framed the product around European living spaces, and it did not announce U.S. availability. U.S. shoppers should therefore read it as a product-direction signal rather than a model headed immediately to American retailers.
If a similar size eventually comes to the U.S., the likely audience would be condos, multifamily buildings, older homes and remodels where a 27-inch laundry pair is difficult to install. Dealers would need exact installation clearances, venting or heat-pump details, electrical requirements and service-access guidance before positioning it as a compact solution.
What Buyers Should Compare
Compact laundry shoppers should compare more than width. Capacity, cycle time, drying method, stacked height, door swing, vibration control and local service coverage all affect ownership. A middle-size unit solves only one part of the space problem if the rest of the installation still does not work.
