Samsung is preparing to move its U.S. headquarters from Englewood Cliffs to Plano, Texas, within the year, according to Seoul Economic Daily, which cited industry sources and a Samsung Electronics official. The official said the company is “making preparations with the goal of completing the relocation within this year,” while adding that staffing plans and the future headquarters operating structure are still under review.
The confirmation follows employee reports provided to ApplianceNews.org that Samsung had informed New Jersey staff of a planned move to the Dallas area, including Plano, Texas. Those reports said employees were being asked to indicate relocation interest as the company evaluates staffing and transition plans.

Employee reports pointed to relocation timeline
Current Samsung employees previously told ApplianceNews.org the move was expected to shift the company’s headquarters presence out of New Jersey roughly one year after Samsung opened its new North American headquarters at 700 Sylvan Ave. in Englewood Cliffs.
Additional employee reports provided to ApplianceNews.org said Samsung’s move to Texas was approved by company leadership and was expected to occur between August and October 2026, with a broader relocation and layoff announcement expected in early June. One employee report said New Jersey layoffs were scheduled to begin June 2.
Employees also reported that a relocation update call was scheduled for May 29 and that the move to Plano, Texas, was announced to New Jersey employees during that call. According to those reports, employees were told they would receive an email June 1 asking them to indicate relocation interest, with initial interest due June 12 and personalized employment information expected by June 30.

Samsung’s own business site lists a Connected Experience Center at 700 Sylvan Ave. in Englewood Cliffs, describing the location as a place for meetings, events, workshops and business briefings.
Public remarks from U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer’s office said the Englewood Cliffs facility was home to about 1,200 employees and replaced Samsung’s former Ridgefield Park headquarters, where the company had operated since 1992.
Texas already plays a major role for Samsung
Samsung Electronics America already has a significant North Texas presence. In 2018, the company announced plans to relocate North Texas-based teams from Richardson and Plano to Legacy Central in Plano, saying the move would bring more than 1,000 regional employees into a 216,000-square-foot office space.
The company’s public LinkedIn profile currently lists its headquarters in Englewood Cliffs and includes a Plano, Texas, location at 6625 Excellence Way.
A headquarters relocation to the Dallas area would deepen Samsung’s corporate footprint in Texas, where the company already maintains operations tied to mobile, customer care, research, engineering, semiconductor and network functions.
New Jersey Republicans criticize move
The headquarters relocation quickly drew political reaction in New Jersey, where Republican lawmakers pointed to Samsung’s recent Englewood Cliffs opening as evidence of how abruptly the company’s plans changed.
In a post on X, the New Jersey Assembly Republican Conference noted that officials including U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer, U.S. Sen. Andy Kim and Assemblywoman Ellen J. Park had celebrated Samsung’s New Jersey headquarters opening only eight months earlier. The group argued that Samsung’s move reflected concerns about New Jersey’s tax and regulatory climate.
The criticism follows broader debate over New Jersey’s business climate, with local coverage noting that business groups and Republican lawmakers have pointed to the state’s corporate tax burden and regulatory costs following the Samsung relocation news.
