Samsung Brings Flat-Front Design to 24-Inch Front-Load Washers

Samsung is extending its flat-front appliance design to a new 24-inch front-load washer lineup, bringing a premium laundry look into a size class more likely to fit compact homes and apartments.

In a Sept. 3 IFA 2026 announcement, Samsung said the washers were on display at Samsung Connect in Berlin. The company said commercial availability had not been determined and that the IFA products were development-stage display models.

Why the Flat Front Matters

Washer design is often treated as cosmetic, but exterior depth, door swing and control placement can determine whether a machine works in a closet, hallway laundry area or stacked installation. Samsung said the new design reduces protruding front elements and creates a more uniform exterior.

The company also said the larger door and wider opening angle are intended to make loading and unloading easier. Those details matter more in compact laundry spaces, where users may be working around doors, trim, counters or stacked configurations.

Technology Moves Downmarket

Samsung said the 24-inch lineup includes laundry technologies previously used on select premium models, including Bubble Shot and Ecobubble. As with most manufacturer performance claims, the details depend on cycle selection, load type and final product specifications.

For retailers, the story is not only design. If premium features move into smaller washers, compact laundry could become less of a compromise category for consumers who want apartment-friendly sizing without basic styling and stripped-down cycles.

Availability Is the Open Question

Samsung did not announce U.S. availability in the release. U.S. shoppers should therefore treat the IFA washer as a design and product-direction signal, not a model they can necessarily buy soon.

If Samsung brings the concept to market, the key comparison will be practical: exact dimensions, stacking options, service access, cycle times, energy use and whether the flatter design helps or complicates installation.
