BENTON HARBOR, Mich., April 10, 2026 — Whirlpool Corporation announced a $60 million investment to establish a new manufacturing facility in Perrysburg, Ohio, expanding its domestic production footprint and reinforcing its long-term U.S. supply chain strategy.
The project will convert a former solar panel manufacturing site into a modern production hub focused on appliance components and subassemblies for washers and dryers. The facility is expected to create between 100 and 150 jobs over the next two years.
This marks the company’s 11th U.S. factory and sixth in Ohio, positioning the state as a central node in Whirlpool’s North American manufacturing network.
The Perrysburg site will support nearby operations, improving logistics efficiency and production flexibility across the region.
Automation and Workforce Strategy
The facility will integrate advanced manufacturing technologies, including automation systems designed to enhance precision and throughput while supporting human-led operations.
“When there is a level playing field, our American workers can out-compete anyone in the world.”
Marc Bitzer, chairman and CEO, Whirlpool Corporation
Bitzer said the investment reflects the company’s confidence in U.S. manufacturing competitiveness and its commitment to producing appliances domestically.
According to Kristin Day, vice president of U.S. manufacturing, the facility represents a hybrid model that blends automation with skilled labor.
“By creating a hybrid environment where cutting-edge automation meets human ingenuity, we are building the future of domestic production,” Day said.

Broader Investment Momentum
The announcement follows a broader wave of domestic investment by Whirlpool, including a previously disclosed $300 million expansion in its laundry division aimed at increasing capacity and adding 400 to 600 jobs.
The company reports that approximately 80% of the appliances it sells in the United States are manufactured domestically.
- $60 million investment in Perrysburg facility
- 100–150 new jobs expected
- 11 total U.S. manufacturing plants
- 6 Ohio-based facilities
- $6 billion spent with U.S. suppliers in the past year
Over the past decade, Whirlpool has invested roughly $23 billion in U.S. manufacturing, labor and logistics, underscoring a sustained focus on domestic production.
Incentives and Timeline
The project remains subject to final approval of state and regional incentives, including support from JobsOhio and potential tax credits from the State of Ohio.
Construction and facility upgrades are expected to unfold over the next two years, with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony anticipated later in 2026.
The Perrysburg investment is expected to strengthen Whirlpool’s regional supply chain while supporting increased production capacity for laundry appliances.
