ServicePower has named Rob McGinnis chief executive officer, replacing Frank Gelbart after more than eight years at the helm of the field service software company. Gelbart will remain an adviser, according to the company’s announcement.
The leadership change puts an executive with experience in software acquisitions and consumer warranty programs in charge of a business whose systems help appliance manufacturers and service organizations coordinate repairs across employee and independent-contractor networks.
McGinnis Brings Software and Warranty Experience
McGinnis most recently served as group president at Harris Computer, part of Constellation Software, where he oversaw businesses developing and acquiring specialized software for sectors including utilities, insurance, retail and healthcare, ServicePower said in its announcement.
Earlier, he led Marsh’s U.S. Consumer business, which included warranty programs. He also held senior positions at CNA Insurance and UnitedHealthcare. That warranty background is particularly relevant to ServicePower’s appliance customers, which depend on service networks to fulfill repair obligations.
What the Change Means for Appliance Service
ServicePower provides software for dispatching technicians, managing contracted service providers and tracking field work. Its company profile identifies appliance manufacturers GE Appliances, LG and Hisense among customers. These are company-reported relationships, not a statement about any change to their service arrangements.
For appliance repair businesses, the practical questions are whether ServicePower’s next investments make it easier to receive jobs, manage compliance requirements and document completed repairs. The company says its priorities under McGinnis include tighter integration of field service management, contractor compliance and its Vision AI tools. It has not announced changes to technician compensation, service contracts or customer repair policies as part of the appointment.
The company’s emphasis on visual tools predates the CEO change. In September, ServicePower described an expansion of mobile field service software with AI-powered visual intelligence, intended to assist workers with information at the job site. Whether those tools shorten appliance repair visits or reduce repeat calls will depend on deployment and results, which the leadership announcement did not quantify.
Gelbart Led ServicePower Since 2018
Gelbart became CEO in April 2018, when ServicePower was emphasizing enterprise software, connected-home technology and service delivery. The 2018 appointment announcement also identified private equity firm Diversis Capital as an investor.
Diversis remains an investor. In the latest announcement, managing partner Ron Nayot said the firm intends to continue backing ServicePower’s technology development. ServicePower did not disclose financial terms related to the CEO transition or a timetable for new products.
